Gamma pricing: what one credit actually buys
Gamma pricing sells a seat, then meters every AI action inside it against a credit balance tied to that seat. The seat buys the editor, credits buy the generation, and they drain at rates differing by two orders of magnitude: a card costs 1 to 3 credits, an image 2 to 125 by model. That 125x spread is the widest per-action range in this index, and it's why a headline allowance like "4,000 credits" tells a buyer almost nothing.
Key takeaways
One Gamma credit has no fixed size. The cheapest billable action costs 1 credit and the dearest costs 125, a 125x spread.
Gamma publishes an exact credit price for all 36 AI image models, but only a 1-to-3 range for cards and no rate for agent edits.
Plan credits roll over to a cap of twice the monthly allowance. Purchased credits sit outside that cap and never expire while you stay subscribed.
Running out stops AI generation only. Manual editing, exports and sharing keep working, and nothing auto-charges unless auto-recharge is on.

What Gamma actually meters
Gamma meters a credit, and it charges separately for a deck's structure and its pictures.
Cards cost 1 to 3 credits each, varying with the text model Gamma picks internally. You don't choose that model and Gamma doesn't say which one ran.
Images are priced per model, and the table is complete. Standard models run 2 to 15 credits an image, Advanced 20 to 33, Premium 34 to 75, Ultra 115 to 125. Flux 1 Quick is 2 credits, Recraft V4 Pro is 125, and both make one image on one slide. So the floor is 1 credit and the ceiling 125.
The disclosure sits in an odd place. That table lives in the developer docs, written for API callers. The help centre, where buyers look, says only that consumption "can vary based on what you're doing, which AI model is used, and the length or complexity of the generation". Agent edits and layout retries draw credits at rates Gamma publishes nowhere, and the effort picker adds a third multiplier: Lite, Standard and Max cost progressively more, with no figure on any of them. AI errors cost nothing, and Studio mode has no per-slide charge, since each slide is one image.
How credits work
Three balances sit in one account and drain in a published order: plan credits, then purchased credits, then the workspace pool.
Plan credits refresh on the billing date and roll over to a cap of twice the monthly allowance, so Plus holds at most 2,000 and Ultra 40,000. Annual subscribers get them issued monthly, not upfront, under the same cap.
Purchased credits cost $6 for 1,500, sold in 1,500-credit increments. That's 6 ÷ 1,500, or $0.004 a credit, which undercuts the bundled rate on every individual plan. They sit outside the rollover cap and never expire while the subscription is active. Cancel and they survive one year; plan credits vanish immediately.
Workspace credits exist on Business and Enterprise only. Everywhere else credits stay tied to the individual, so auto-recharge fires per member: three teammates crossing the threshold trigger three separate $6 charges. Free users get 400 credits at signup and no refresh, ever.
What happens when you hit the limit
Gamma blocks AI actions and leaves everything else alone. You can still edit, export and share by hand, and nothing auto-charges unless an admin turns on auto-recharge.
Whether that bites is arithmetic. A 10-slide deck with 10 images on Flux 1 Quick costs 10 x 2 = 20 credits for images plus 10 to 30 for cards, so 30 to 50 all in, and a Plus plan's 1,000 credits buys at least 1,000 ÷ 50, or 20 of them. Swap in Recraft V4 Pro and the same 10 images cost 10 x 125 = 1,250 credits, past the whole monthly allowance before a card is charged.
